Two large road tiles that were stolen from the Claiborne County Highway Department in Clairfield were recovered Tuesday in Williamsburg, KY.

The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office received information from a private citizen that the tiles had been stolen and gave them a possible location of where they could be found.

On Tuesday, March 9, Lt. John Collins and Detective Anthony Veillon recovered the tile after receiving the information.

The tile was recovered at a metal recycling plant location in Williamsburg, KY and is valued at over $1,000.

“The size of the tile is unbelievable,” said Sheriff David Ray, “We’re still working to find out how the tile was transported from the location to where it was found.”

Ricky Terry, 37, of Clairfield is charged with theft and will appear in court on Thursday, March 25.
