Last Tuesday evening a man walked up to the first drive-thru window at McDonald's and requested change for a five-dollar bill. When the McDonald's employee asked if he wanted it in ones, he passed her a note and told her to read it, according to the report.
The note said, "Be calm! Empty register in to bag! Have gun".
Upon reading the note, the employee slammed the drawer shut and slammed the drive-thru window. She also started to run away, but said the suspect yelled, "Stop or I'll shoot you!" while reaching behind his back.
She continued to run and the suspect pried open the window, but ran away while the victim and her manager were calling 911.
The victim told police she thought the suspect, a male, looked familiar, although he had not been identified as of press time.
Police are looking for a white male, 6' to 6'4" tall. At the time of the attempted robbery he had on blue jeans and a light colored hoodie. He has short blonde hair and is described as having a slender build.
The suspect did not get any money from the attempted robbery, and police obtained a copy of the surveillance video, the five-dollar bill and the note for evidence.
Officer Jeremy Myers of the Tazewell Police Department is investigating the attempted robbery.
