Businessman charged with sexual battery

A New Tazewell businessman was arrested Friday on charges of sexual battery.

According to an arrest warrant from Claiborne County Sessions Court, Charles Allen Torbett III allegedly went into Papa John’s restaurant in New Tazewell and “would grab (alleged victim’s name deleted) body and breasts. The defendant did not have permission… to touch any part of her body.” The alleged offenses occurred in February of this year.

Torbett is the owner and operator of Torbett Auto Supply, which is in the same shopping center as Papa John’s.

A manager at the restaurant told Torbett several times to stop, which “caused the defendant to get made (sic).”

Torbett is charged with two counts of sexual battery. He is currently out on $10,000 bond and is due to appear in court on May 23.
