It was delayed a bit because of all the recent bad weather, but the 2010 All-Blue Ridge Athletic Conference (also known as Tennessee’s District 2-AA) team has been released.

Specialty awards were dominated by Greeneville, not surprising as the Greene Dragons rolled to an undefeated season and won the Class 4-A state title.

William Carmichael was named the player of the year, B.J. Spradlin the co-offensive player of the year, Jamel Hall the lineman of the year and Ben Ogle the specialist of the year.

Several local players were also recognized, led by Claiborne senior defensive end Jacob Blankenship who was named the conference’s defensive player of the year.

Five other Bulldogs made the first team: seniors Jacob Crigger, Aaron Noe and Ryan Nelson along with juniors Cody Malone and Austin Neely.

Cumberland Gap junior Joseph Jenkins was the Panther’s lone first team selection.

Making the second team all-conference for CGHS were seniors Daniel Pace, Cody Webb, Austin Oney and Adam Southern along with junior Trey Treece.

Second teamers for Claiborne were senior Jacob Sandifur; juniors Matt Pruette, Dakota Massengill, and Josh Duff; along with sophomore Jeremy Hurst.

Rounding out the specialty awards were South Greene’s Jalen Shuffler as co-offensive player of the year and Chuckey-Doak’s Ben Murphy as coach of the year.
