Herbert Basil Hatmaker, age 84, of Cumberland Gap, formerly of Lake City, and Roseville, Mi. was born June 6, 1923 in Lake City and passed away January 10, 2008 at Claiborne County Hospital.

He was the son of the late Frazier and Lema Hatmaker. He was a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church and a Veteran of WW II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Emma Sue Creekmore.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Anne Hatmaker of Cumberland Gap; son: Richard (Tammy) Hatmaker of Warren, Mi.; brothers: Bennie Hatmaker, Jimmy Hatmaker both of Lake City, Frank (Ardella) Hatmaker of Powell; sisters: Ann Hughes of Heiskell, Sonia (Glen) Wright of Andersonville; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Bobbie Reynolds of Middlesboro, Ky.

Funeral services were Sunday, January 13 at 8 p.m. at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel with Rev. Anthony Mountain, Rev. Clay Harrell, and Rev. Ralph Mundy officiating. Music by Katie Chumley and the Gap Creek Quartet. Burial in the Yoakum Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Eugene Franks, Cecil Goins, Eddie Chumley, Paul Edwards, Larry Wagner, Ron Ruth.
