Opal Shiflet, age 83, of Speedwell, was born in Claiborne County and passed away January 23, 2008 at Tri-State Health Care Facility.

She was a daughter of Mossie and Jessie James Heck, Sr.

Survivors include her husband: Ernest Shiflet of Speedwell; son: Nick (Polly) Shiflet; daughter: Susan (James) Hubbard all of Monroe, Mich.; nine grandchildren: Jason Shiflet, Luci Shiflet, Christian Shiflet, Roxanne Shiflet, Carisa Hubbard, Keil Shiflet, Tara Hubbard, T.J. Hubbard, Savannah Shiflet; two great grandchildren: Joey Shiflet, Morgan Hubbard; brothers: Kenneth (Faye) Heck, Millard D. Heck, Bennie M. Heck all of Speedwell; sisters: Mabel (Thomas) Lynch of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, Mary (Douglas) Phillips of Flat Rock, Mich., Deloris Portillo of Speedwell, Phyllis (Fred) Wittkop of Monroe, Mich.; sister-in-law: Ruby Heck of Speedwell; brother-in-law: Rubin Stephens of Clinton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 26 at 2 p.m. at Reece Funeral Home with Brother Steve Powell officiating. A private family graveside service followed in the Heck Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Jason Shiflet, Keil Shiflet, T.J. Hubbard, Michael Portillo, Keith Stephens and Wilburn Guy.
