The 2007-2008 basketball season has come to a close. Several student athletes from Claiborne County were named to the All-District teams.

The girls' All-District team included Kelsey Dean (CGHS), Tracey Shackleford (CGHS), Ariel Nickell (CHS), and Heather Green (CHS). Samantha Killion (CHS), Lindsey Snodgrass (CHS), Jonna Adkins (CGHS), and Mackenzie McFall (CGHS) were voted Honorable Mention. Taylor Lowe (CGHS), Jacob Shipley (CGHS), and Jared DeBusk (CHS) helped to complete the boys' All-District team.

Claiborne County is also home to two coaches of the year.

Lori Cook of Claiborne High School shares the honor of Co-Coach of the year with Conchita Johnson of Pigeon Forge.

One of the District 2-A coaches of the year in men's basketball is Joe Wolfenbarger of Cumberland Gap High School. He shares this honor with Brian Jessie of Union County and Raul Placeres of Gatlinburg-Pittman.

Congratulations to these student athletes and their coaches.
