Jimmy Ernest Thacker, age 68, of Harrogate, was born November 27, 1939 and passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 at the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a truck driver for several years before retiring from Console Mines. He was a member of the UMWA. He was the son of the late Ernest and Willie Mae Thacker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one infant daughter: Kimberly Lou Thacker; brothers: Allen Douglas Thacker and Lonnie Dale Thacker; granddaughter: Jessica Paige Robertson; grandson: Justin David McFall.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Thacker; sons: Billy (Debra) Ash, Roy (Renee) Thacker and Doug (April) Thacker; daughters: Lee Ann (Jack) Smith, Carlett Proffitt, Lisa Bakies, Tonya (Elroy) Robertson, Becky Thacker; brothers: Vernon (Mable) Thacker and Harold (Glenda) Thacker; grandchildren: Jack Robert, Jason, and Jeremy Smith, Michelle Bray, Jonathan Yoakum, Amanda Helton, William Ash, Charlie and Emily Bakies, Monica and Brianna Thacker, Taylor and Jourdan Thacker, Brittany and Trent Irvin; great-grandchildren: Mannie Smith, Ryan Milton and Kimberly Bray; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services were Wednesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyd Gray officiating. Burial in England's Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Tony Hutson, Don Hutson, James Helton, Wayne Thacker, Gary Sutton and Carl Partin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of UMWA.
