James Evans, age 76 of Speedwell, TN passed away Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2008 at Claiborne County Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Sie and Nancy Evans, two half sisters and one Brother: Carson Evans.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Opal Mae (Jack) Leach Evans of Speedwell; Daughter: Sherry Lynn Evans of Speedwell; Brother: Earl and Bennie Mae Evans of Speedwell; Sister-in-law: Mae Evans and a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on wife’s side, also a host of nieces and nephews on both sides of family and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 11 from 5-7 p.m. at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Harrogate with the funeral service to follow at 7p.m. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 12 at the Town Creek Cemetery. Rev. Gary Mundy and Rev. Johnny Brown. Singers: Cathy and Brian Giles. Pallbearers: Greg Corum, Dan Evans, Jerry Evans, George Dyer, Dale Evans and Bill Carey. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry Ausmus and employees past and present of Giles Industries.
