Irene “Dot” Beeler, 97, of Speedwell, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at her home. Irene was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd Beeler and eleven brothers and sisters: Jessie Houston, Joseph Houston, William Houston, Jacob Houston, Margaret Houston Steiner, Mary Houston, Milton Houston, Della Houston Welch, Carla Maud Houston Steiner, Tilda Houston and John Houston.

She was the oldest member of Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church and an active resident of the Speedwell community. She was formerly from the Lead Mine Bend community in Union County before the Norris Dam project, which separated the two communities several years ago. She retired from Imperial Reading in LaFollette, TN after 33 years of service.

Her survivors include her daughter, Icia Jane Beeler Dunn, and her grandson, Jefferson Lee Dunn and Sheila, all of Speedwell.

She will be loved and missed by a host of friends and relatives.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Carr’s Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home assisted with the burial. The family would like to extend special thanks to a host of friends and family for their work and comfort during this time.
