On Tuesday, December 2, SMMS took two games out of the three played versus the Red Devils of Midway.
The first game of the night was the JV girls. Midway could not match the speed of SMMS who simply dominated the contest. The Lady Blue Devils outscored their opponents in every quarter and finished with a 19-5 victory.
Ashley Creekbaum, Cory Burchette and Ashley Arnwine scored for the Lady Blue Devils but the leading scorer was Dakotah Turner who put 13 points through the basket. Allision Ickes, Lindsey Upton and Jordan Shipley put points on the board for Midway.
In game two the Varsity Girls took the floor. Rayven Love and Heather Bolden led the Lady Blue Devils to the victory over Midway 61-10. Rayven’s 20 points led SMMS followed by Heather’s 14. Haley Redden had 7.Ashley Arnwine scored 6, Kylie Rowe and Kianah Brown each had 4 while Felicia Turner, Brittany Taylor and Angie Garman each had 2.
For Midway the leading scorer was Natalie Sharp with Courtney Walker and Rebekah Kell adding 2 points each.
The final game of the night was the varsity boys. The first half of the contest belonged to Midway. They outscored SMMS 20-3 but in the second half the Blue Devils made a run and outscored the Red Devils 25-20.
Midway’s first half advantage was enough however to secure the win with a final score of 40-28.
Leading the scoring for Midway was Will Hoskins with 14 points. Kameron Rosenbalm led the Blue Devils with 17.
