As of 10:30 Monday morning, February 28, the National Weather Service held a briefing for all local counties.

A line of storms will be moving continually through Claiborne County today with the greatest potential for damaging winds, lightning and flooding occurring between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM with the storms subsiding by 6:00 PM.

The tornado risk for Claiborne County is between 5 and 10-percent with a flood warning for the Powell River community at Arthur.

A high wind advisory is in effect until 4:00 PM with gusts up to 65 miles-per-hour at times.

Due to high winds and lightning, Emergency Management has recommended to stay inside a safe area until the storms pass.
