HARROGATE—The 2008 final Harrogate City Council meeting ended with a festive note and some ongoing controversy.

After a lengthy discussion about the Little League ball field Freddie Chumley and Mayor Bill Fultz agreed to meet at the ball field on December 23 and try to resolve the drainage problem.

It was reported that new hours for the Book Station on Bristol Road are Tuesday through Thursday 1:30 to 6:30 and Saturday 10:30 to 3:00.

The committee will make their decision on the new part-time ETHRA employee and materials needed for a lift at the library.

Requests from ministers Jimmy Nelson and Doug Yeary were made for separate tent revivals this summer in the Harrogate City Park. Permission was given for the tents to be placed on the parking lot only.

Mike Lester requested a need to talk to the mayor about storage of the holiday lights and how many need to be replaced for 2009.

John Allen of Hatfield and Allan Engineers told the council and audience J.B. Arnold had been awarded the contract for 2007 for CDBG.

Mayor Fultz announced the new fire tanker has arrived at the Harrogate Fire Department. The fire department now employs 28 members.

The meeting was adjourned with wished for a Happy Holiday from the mayor and staff.
