Accident blocks Hwy. 25E South for hours

The southbound lanes of Highway 25-E south toward Morristown were blocked at Lower Caney Valley Road for approximately 14 hours on Thursday, July 14 after a the trailer connected to a tractor-trailer flipped and lost $73-thousand dollars worth of metal on the roadway. The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, Springdale Volunteer Fire Department, TDOT and Claiborne County Office of Emergency Management were all dispatched to the scene. The accident happened just after 4 a.m. Thursday and crews were not able to open the roadway until just before 7 p.m. that night. Members of the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department worked traffic control throughout the day while the metal was picked up out of the roadway. Tennessee Highway Patrol was called in to the scene to investigate the accident. The driver, whose name has not been released, was not injured in the accident.
