Every holiday season we look forward to enjoying our favorite family recipes. Gathered around the table with family and friends there is nothing better than those tasty dishes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Why not take a moment to share one or more of your favorite family recipes so that others may enjoy the same treat this holiday season? You may help brighten someone’s holidays or even win a prize!

The Claiborne Progress is hosting an online Meals and Memories Holiday Recipe Contest sponsored by Pineville Community Hospital and several other local businesses. Categories for the contest include Appetizers, Breakfast, Main Course and Desserts.

Submitting your entries is easy. All you have to do is go to www.claiborneprogress.net, click on the recipe contest and just submit your favorite recipe. You can then view the entries and vote for your favorite. Don’t forget to ask your friends and family to vote also. There are lots of prizes to be awarded to the various winners.

The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $90 gift card and their recipe highlighted in the Claiborne Progress. The Appetizer winner will win a free tire rotation and oil change from Dalton Tire. Breakfast is sponsored by Tipton & Son, who will award $45 in cash to the winner of that category. M.O.R. Automotive is sponsoring the Main Course and the winner will receive a tire rotation and balance and oil change. The Dessert sponsor is Teresa's Bakery & Deli, who will award a $45 gift card to the winner.

The recipe submission period is now through Dec. 17. The voting period will be Dec. 18 through Dec. 31.

Where do the "Memories" come in?

The Memories portion of the contest is unique in that we are focusing on pictures from throughout 2011. Now, at year end, is a time to reflect. The categories for memories include
Sports, sponsored by M.O.R., Community, sponsored by Teresa's Bakery, Family, sponsored by Tipton & Son and School, sponsored by Dalton Tire. The same prizes will be given by each business. 



The overall winners will be selected from each, one from Meals and another from Memories.

No purchase is necessary. Only one valid entry per contestant. You must be 18 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. Winners will be notified by email. All accounts must include a valid email address. Accounts cannot be registered with "disposable" email accounts. If a winner is unreachable after seven days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. Only one registered account per voter.
