Pictured is local author, Candida Fuson Sullivan. Sullivan lives in New Tazewell, Tenn. and is originally from Frakes, Ky. Sullivan is kicking off her nation-wide book tour with a celebration at Frakes School Center on Saturday, December 17 at 5 p.m. Sullivan’s two new books, “Underneath the Scars” and “Zippy and the Stripes of Courage” will be released on December 31.
Sullivan is celebrating the release of her two books, “Underneath the Scars” and “Zippy and the Stripes of Courage, dealing with the topic of living with physical deformities and other circumstances that result in teasing, bullying, or prejudice.
“Underneath the Scars” is an adult book, while “Zippy and the Stripes of Courage” was written for children.
Sullivan was born with a rare condition call Amniotic Band Syndrome, which generally causes death in most babies before they are born.
Sullivan believes God spared her for a reason and wants to spend her life sharing hope and love with others. As an advocate of differences, Sullivan will be traveling the nation reading her children’s book and encouraging children and adults to be tolerant of differences, while inspiring them to follow their dreams.
Both books were published by ShadeTree Publishing, a company that seeks to provide a more accessible publishing venue for emerging Christian writers.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served, complete with a special Zippy cake. Sullivan will be available for an author meet-and-greet, an author read aloud, and a book signing.
