The wreck happened around 2 a.m. when a car and tractor-trailer collided at the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and US Hwy. 25E in the Springdale community, according to Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray.
The female driver of the car was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and is in critical condition. Her passenger was killed in the accident. The condition of the tractor-trailer driver is unknown at this time.
The accident is under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The identities are not being released at this time. No further information is available, but the Claiborne Progress will update as information becomes available.
