May 15th- The Tennessee Smokies baseball team welcomed area kids to Smokies Stadium for the annual Safe Kids Health and Awareness Day. Schools from all over East Tennessee bused their kids to the ballpark for a day of learning and fun. The game began around 11:30 AM and the early start was just what the home team needed. The Smokies took a 10-8 victory after hammering out 11-hits. The Smokies were able to win despite having 4-errors on the day. Tennessee will now hit the road for a series against Mississippi and Mobile before returning home on the 28th to host Huntsville. Tennessee is currently 17-23 on the year but are only 6-games back.
