According to Sheriff Ray, an aggravated burglary at the residence of Kip Evans in the Speedwell area of Claiborne County had resulted in the loss of over $10,000 worth of property.
Responding officers Lance Shipley and Robert Chadwell notified Captain David Honeycutt who came to the scene of the crime. Honeycutt was able to gather direct evidence, which led to the arrest of David Johnson, 26, of Tazewell.
Sheriff Ray stated that Johnson was taken into custody at a location in Tazewell after being found hiding in a shower inside a residence. Johnson is charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $10,000. He remains in The Claiborne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Ray also stated a theft occurring at the residence of Kenneth Brooks of Tazewell has resulted in warrants being issued for Cornelia Mullins, 40 of Tazewell.
According to Sheriff Ray, Jewelry valued at approximately $12,000 was taken from this residence and the subsequent investigation by Captain Honeycutt led to the issuance of the warrants. Mullins is charged with theft over $10,000.
