As part of the ongoing Operation Grainger Strike, an active meth lab was busted at at 165 Brown Fanney Road in Thorn Hill at the home of John C. Holt on Jan. 16.

According to Grainger County Sheriff Scott Layel, deputies and detectives with his department raided the home of Holt, 33, in the early morning hours.

“Evidence was seized and six suspects were arrested,” Layel said in a news release.

The alleged meth lab was dismantled by detectives using HazMat suits and turned over to the East Tennessee Meth Task Force for disposal. The residence was quarantined immediately, Layel added.

“John C. Holt has been the target of a two-and-a-half year investigation, and finally detectives obtained enough evidence to enter the residence for the search and arrests” said Layel. “Holt has been a major dealer in methamphetamine for some period of time and I feel much more comfortable seeing him off the streets and the elaborate manufacturing and dealing operation shut down.”

Tina Jo Parks, 31, of Tazewell, was arrested last year at an active meth lab in Thorn Hill and is still facing a court date on that arrest, according to Layel.

The owner of that residence, Russell Greene, fled the scene and was captured months later when deputies acting on a tip found him in Mooresburg asleep in a car behind D and R Market. He fled and resisted but was apprehended after a physical altercation with law enforcement.

Those arrested last Wednesday and charged in connection with this latest meth lab seizure are:

• John Carroll Holt, 33, Thorn Hill — Manufacture of meth and possession of schedule II. Bond was set at $53,000.

• Dusty David Jones, 31, Thorn Hill — Manufacture of meth. Bond was set at $50,000.

• Tina Jo Parks, 31, Tazewell — Manufacture of meth and possession of schedule IV. Bond was set at $53,000.

• Derek Lucas Weaver, 32, Washburn — Manufacture of meth and possession of schedule II. Bond was set at $53,000.

Anyone with information about possible methampetamine labs is asked to call local law enforcement. All calls will remain confidential.
