March 21st- Tazewell Speedway opened its gates for the first time in 2009 for an open session of practice. Several drivers showed up to shake down their racing machines in preparation of the upcoming season. Equally important was the new racing surface and how it would perform under the dirt-slinging racing action. The drivers took to the new surface and the track itself seemed to hold up just fine. The surface appeared to be smooth except for a few minor dips and gave the appearance that it would be a fast track on opening day, April 4th. The sluggish economy did not seem to be a concern as the track had more fans interested in and watching practice than in years past. Tazewell Speedway invites everyone to check out its web-site www.tazewellspeedway.net to view the 2009 schedule and to stay up to date on family cost-cutting offers on admission throughout the season.
