Saturday April 11th- A confident Jason Wilt entered the cage looking to earn his first title in his MMA career. Over six years of training had brought him to this moment in Clinton, Tennessee. He was competing in a joint competition between the Cage Aggression Fight League and the Absolute Cage Fights. Wilt’s opponent was Darin Thompson and they were competing for the 155 pound title. In typical Wilt style he grabbed the advantage early in round one and at one point had him in the choke-hold that had helped him end his last two fights quickly; however, the fight was ended when Wilt was able to get Thompson on the ground and throw down a series of punches. The match ended by tap-out at the 1:33 point in the first round. When asked before the fight what he thought about his opponent he stated, “I thought he was a big stocky opponent and thought it was going to be a hard fight.” Upon reflection of his big win he added, “I trained hard for this fight and I wanted to do this for Claiborne County, my family and friends and a special thanks to a young preacher Rev. Jimmy Dean Seals and the Leonard family.” Jason Wilt is now training with Danny Ramsey with Mike England and Richard Neely coaching. The title win pushes his record to 5 wins and 1 loss and now Wilt begins his training for another title match on May 23rd in Knoxville Tennessee. His hopes are to win another title belt and then travel to Coconut Creek, Florida and train with American Top Team, a training facility that trains UFC fighters. He has had several calls from other schools wanting him to train with them also. His dream since he began is to end up one day in the worldwide-known UFC MMA organization. Wilt thanks all of those that have supported him thus far in his career and the Claiborne Progress for following his progress over the last few months.
