Tracy Brooks, of Harrogate, recently completed the Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 11 minutes and 58 seconds. This was Brooks’ second time running the Boston Marathon.
“I began running about four years ago as a way to keep in shape,” said Brooks, who started running marathons around two years after she began running on a regular basis.
Brooks competes in several different types of races, but says marathons, 26 miles in length, are her favorite. In total she has completed six marathons and one ultra-marathon.
She was the winning female in the 31 mile ultra-marathon which she ran in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was also the first female in the Ridge to Bridge marathon in Morganton, North Carolina.
Brooks is a lifelong resident of Claiborne County and is currently a teacher and coach at Cumberland Gap High School. She said she has received a lot of support from her current running team, Foot Rx/EBS, and former running team, the Cumberland Gap Hilltoppers. She’s also grateful for the support of her family.
Brooks is the daughter of Terry and Roseanne Brooks and granddaughter of Buford and Bernice Williams Brooks of Harrogate.
