April 27th- The Bulldog baseball team faced the Patriots of Union County Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fired up by senior night activities looked good early and grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning with a towering 3-run homerun by Bulldog Jacob Holt to left field. According to the coaching staff it was only the third homer ever hit at this pitcher’s ballpark. The Bulldog pitching effort was adequate until the fourth inning. The Patriots began to see the ball well during this inning and forced the Bulldogs to change pitchers following a 5 run fourth inning. Leading 5-3 the Patriots pulled away and finished the game with a 9-3 win. Before the game Bulldogs Vince Pancake, Casey Johnson and T.J. “Frankie” Cloud were honored in a senior class celebration with their parents by their side. The team members received a great applause by the Bulldog fans in the stands and by the coaches. Coach Terry McMillan congratulated each senior and said this about his team’s progress, “On day one we looked like little-leaguers but now on game 20 we look like a minor league team. We had been working on fundamentals and now we are able to work on the more advanced techniques of baseball and are trying to get the program where it needs to be. We have come a long way this season and learned much.”
