Glenna Yoakum Adams age 59 of Tazewell, TN born July 26, 1949 passed away on May 28, 2009 at the Claiborne County Hospital. She was a member of the Tazewell United Methodist Church. She was an avid environmentalist. She graduated from high school in 1966 from Fairfax Hall in Virginia as Valedictorian at the age of sixteen. She received a BA from Emory University in 1970 as Phi Beta Kappa. She received her Masters Degree from Emory in 1971. She then taught High School English and Latin. She served as Assistant Dean of Women at Clemson University. She attended the University Of South Carolina School Of Law and received her law degree in 1979. She was extremely proud of her son Oliver for following in her footsteps after receiving his law degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law as Valedictorian.

She is survived by her:

Son: Oliver Adams Esq. and wife Lauren of Knoxville, TN

Mother: Leo (Walker) Yoakum of Tazewell, TN

Sisters: Eleanor Yoakum and husband Bill Dunavant of Tazewell, TN

Martha Yoakum of Caryville, TN

Nephew: Robert Glenn (Rob) and Kelly Barger of Knoxville, TN

Nieces: Stephanie and Forrest Conner of Nashville, TN

Eleanor Marshall and husband Stephen of Knoxville, TN

Great-Nieces and Nephews: Walker Conner, Elizabeth Conner, Virginia Conner

Cameron Marshall, Mayson Barger

Special Cousin: Tommy Jennings of Columbia, TN

Special Friend: Craig Dyer of Tazewell, TN

The family will receive friends at the Tazewell United Methodist Church Saturday May 30, 2009 from 2 until 4PM, with funeral services to follow at 4PM. The Reverend Kenneth Scoggins officiating. Eulogy by Randy England. Private burial to follow.
