Saturday, August 29th- Six local MMA fighters competed in a Cage Aggression Fight League-August Aggression promotion at Doc’s Gym in Tazewell, Tennessee. For many it was their first time competing in MMA action and for others it was their first time in front of home fans. Brandon Campbell competed in his first ever fight and made his fans and family happy by taking care of his opponent James Groner within a minute of the start of the first round. When asked about his quick victory he said, “I was worried that he would get me on the ground but I was able to lift him away from me and start throwing punches.” Campbell trains at the House of Pain in Knoxville, TN and also trains locally with Danny Ramsey, Richard Neely, Mike England and Scott Rosenbalm. Campbell added, “I wouldn’t be anything without those guys.” Danny Ramsey could not find a willing fighter to fight in his weight class and took a fight with a fighter that outweighed him by 40+ pounds. Ramsey had big Mickey Braden reeling early in his fight until he tried to put a submission move on his big opponent. Braden was able to turn Ramsey on his back and began ground and pound techniques that were not landing as well as they looked; however, the official called the fight with only seconds from the end of the round giving the victory to Braden. There were several other local fighters competing in the promotion including; Jonathan Gillium, Jason Hurst, Sean Giffin, and Brandon Patterson. Somewhere around 500 people watched the fight program and witnessed some excellent MMA competition from great amateur fighters. Gym owner-operator Wade Noah would like to thank all the fighters and fans for coming out and the Cage Aggression Fight League for bringing the promotion to his place of business. If any other local fighter would like to be interviewed please contact Allen Earl at 423-526-3480.
