Hazel Burke Skaggs, age 90, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville. She was born November 16, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Harrogate. She was a member of Greer’s Chapel Baptist church for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Skaggs; her parents, Charlie and Lizzie Burke; sister, Charlene Harris; brothers-in-law, Frank Harris, Ralph Allen, Evan Skaggs and Dan Hill; sisters-in-law, Alpha Hill and Roeverne Skaggs.
She is survived by: daughter: Billie Kaye (R.D>) Southerland of Knoxville, sons: Charles (Carolyn) Skaggs, Pat (Sherry) Skaggs all of Harrogate, grandson Tim (Debbie) Skaggs of Speedwell, great granddaughter: Mary Beth Skaggs; sister: Dorothy Allen of Knoxville, special nieces: Charlene Allen of Knoxville, and Beth (Greg) Cashion of Nashville.

The family received friends on Monday, January 4 at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, funeral service followed with Rev. David Bolton and Rev. David Billingsley officiating.

Graveside service was held January 5, 2010 at the Greer’s Chapel Cemetery.
