Speedwell house destroyed

This was the scene Thursday night on Russell Hill in Speedwell when an abandoned house caught fire. The home was built over fifty years ago in the community and was a total loss despite work by the Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department. Claiborne County EMS stayed near the scene for any possible injuries. Deputy Mike Leach with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene to work traffic. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
