Brevard College came into Harrogate leading the SAC standings with LMU looking up at them from the second position. Brevard was 3-0 in SAC play and LMU was 2-1 at the time of the tip-off. D'Mario Curry made his presence known early and often as he wowed the crowd with three huge blocks. Curry also took charge of the offense as he was aggressive in the paint and when he didn't finish he got to the line. Leading LMU in scoring at the half, Stuart Miller helped his team out with four big 3-pointers. The Splitters led the contest mid-way through the first half by 10 points and extended the advantage to 20 points by halftime. As the second half began Curry picked up where he left off by following a missed shot with a two-handed slam followed up by a traditional 3-point play and then a massive block that got the crowd on their feet. The Railsplitter offensive attack stayed on track and mid-way through the second half the lead was 14-points at 66-52. Curry led the Splitters with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. Stuart Miller finished with 12 points while Desmond Johnson and Brandon Armstrong both had 11. Brevard outscored LMU in the second half at 38-33 but LMU had enough to finish the game on top by a final score of 85-70. LMU had a 26-6 advantage in bench scoring and shot 66% from the stripe making 19 out of 29 attempts. On January 13th the Splitters will face Newberry at Tex Turner Arena at 8:00 pm. Tonight's game was sponsored by Citizens Bank. Log on to www.railsplitters.com for additional information on all LMU athletics.
