Viven Anderson Cardwell age 87 died peacefully at his home on January 13, 2010 with his family at his side. A lifelong farmer, he was the master of many trades. He was a long time member of Liberty Baptist Church. Viven was a member of the greatest generation and served in the U.S. Army, 908th Field Artillery, and 83rd Division in England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Normandy. He was the son of the late James Anderson and Syminthia Meyers Cardwell of New Tazewell. Preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Norma Neely Cardwell; brothers, Walter and Neal Cardwell; sisters, Elizabeth Neely, Retha Drummonds and Eva Cardwell.

Survivors: Son - Richard E. Cardwell (Susan), Daughters - Cathy Guy (John) & Kay Norris (Carson), six (6) grandchildren and eight (8) great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Viven Anderson Cardwell, age 87, of Crossville, TN were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Bilbrey Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

The family received friend’s 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Bilbrey Funeral Home.

Bilbrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and professional services.
