Officers and medics were dispatched to the 200 block of Cumberland Estates Road just after 7:00 to reports of a gunshot wound.
Two brothers, Kermit and Louie Combs had allegedly been arguing over Kermit’s daughter’s boyfriend, when Kermit turned to leave he was shot by his brother in the back with a .38 revolver.
Kermit was able to run to the backyard and call 911.
When officers arrived, they found Kermit outside behind a vehicle with two gunshot wounds to the lower back.
Louie was still armed inside the home.
Medics were not allowed to proceed to the scene until officers had disarmed Louie.
After several minutes, officers were able to get inside the home and Sheriff David Ray was able to disarm him. Once he had been apprehended, officers gave medics permission to proceed to the scene.
Within minutes, medics were transporting Kermit to the helipad in Harrogate to be transported to UT Medical Center by Lifestar.
According to Sheriff David Ray, officers also confiscated several weapons from the home, which could lead to Federal gun charges.
Louie Nolan Combs was arrested and charged with especially aggravated assault.
Combs is being held in the Claiborne County jail on a $250,000 secure bond. He will be seen in court on March 16, 2010.
