The Tennessee Smokies have made it to the top of the Southern League’s North Division and as of Sunday, August 1st hold a two-game lead over Huntsville. Offensively the Smokies are being led in the long-ball by Russ Canzler and Robinson Chirinos with both having fifteen home runs. On the mound, Hung-Wen Chen leads the Smokies in ERA with a 2.96. The Smokies currently have the best team batting average in the Southern League and are looking to equal their first-half success by winning the second-half championship as well as the overall title. They have won six out of their last seven games and took a series win over West Tennessee by winning four of five games. the Smokies travel to Montgomery this week and return back home on Saturday, August 7th to face Huntsville in a five game home series. Following the Sunday evening game against the Diamond Jaxx, the fans were treated to a concert performed by the Christian group New Song.
