A local man is behind bars after investigators charged him with rape of a child.
Eugene “Puffy” Hatfield, 78 of Tazewell, was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 4.
After an ongoing investigation, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain enough information to obtain an arrest warrant on Hatfield.
Hatfield is currently being held in the Claiborne County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
He will appear in court on Thursday, August 19.
