Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) welcomed 125 new students from 27 different states and Puerto Rico into the class of 2021 on Aug. 3. Thirty-five percent of the students in the class of 2021 come from the Appalachian region.

As part of LMU-CVM’s “clinical immersion” concept, high emphasis is placed on the development of both technical and non-technical skills throughout the curriculum. LMU-CVM students will pursue a four-year course of study leading to the doctor of veterinary medicine degree. The first two and a half years of the curriculum will take place on campus, with the last semesters of study occurring at off-campus clinical sites to begin integrating and applying all of the knowledge and skills acquired during the pre-clinical experience.

LMU-CVM students attend lectures within the Hamilton Math and Science Building on the LMU main campus, and learn hands-on veterinary techniques at the 700 acre LMU-CVM DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center (DVTC), located in Ewing, Virginia. The DVTC, composed of six individual facilities, is used for companion animal and farm animal core clinical skills instruction, in years one through three of the curriculum, and houses our Shelter Outreach to the Appalachian Region (SOAR) program.
