Eagles sweep games at Midway

H.Y. Livesay Middle School took all four of its basketball teams to Midway Elementary Nov. 6. After four games the Eagles had swept the night. Both junior varsity teams got wins before the two varsity teams took the hardwood.

The first varsity game featured the Lady Eagles battling the Lady Red Devils. Livesay started scoring early and continued throughout the game winning in convincing fashion 42-20 behind Nevaeh Kerns and her 13 points. Kerns played tough basketball in the paint. Others recording scores for the visiting team were Taylor Presnell with nine, Ashtyn Meyers with eight, Jaden Brock had seven, K.K. finished with four and Addie Brooks rounded out the scoring total with one point.

Midway was led by Gracie Ray with 10 points. Raegan Lester and Emma Myatt both finished the game with three points. Jenna Cockrum and Mackenzie Farris each dropped in two points to finish the Midway total.

The final game featured the Eagles and Red Devils boys teams. This game stayed close early but the Eagles made a run and got ahead for good during the second quarter. Leading the charge for the Eagles was Elijah Lawson with 13 points. Aiden Jackson dropped in nine points. Eli Estes finished the game with seven while four others each scored four points, including Jake Barton, Logan Napier, Dylan Foster and Trace Provins.

Midway was led during the loss by Levi Peoples, Cooper Sams and Tyler Myatt, all with six points each. George Smith and Austin Bowen both recorded two points and Conner Atkins completed the Red Devils total with one point.

With the impressive wins the Eagles have established themselves as one of the teams to beat this season.
