Estep handles violations of probation cases

Judge Robert Estep handled several violations of probation cases recently, during hearings in Claiborne Sessions Court.

Tonya M. Suttles, 48, charged with failure to report to probation, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. Suttles was given credit for any jail time served since Feb. 26, 2012.

Johnnie Hacker, 30, was charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to weekly drug screenings, to complete IOP treatment and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation. Hacker was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days at 75 percent confinement. She was given credit for any jail time already served.

Robert D. McDonald, 19, was charged with failure to report to probation, to complete the MADD Victim Impact Panel, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation. McDonald was sentenced to serve an additional 11 months, 29 days supervised probation with 75 days confinement. He was given credit for ten days of jail time already served.

Danny Sizelove, 23, was charged for theft under $1,000, evading arrest and violation of the seat belt law while on probation. Earlier charges, while on probation, include failure to report, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete an alcohol and drug assessment and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees. Sizelove was sentenced to a concurrent 11 months, 29 days ETHRA supervised probation with 30 days confinement. He was given credit for eight days of jail time already served. Sizelove must pay at least $100 per month in court costs and fines and forfeits $75 to the Economic Crime Fund. He must also pay $19.97 in restitution to the New Tazewell Walmart Store.

Jacob L. Turner, 20, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, was initially charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation. Turner was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days ETHRA supervised probation with 25 days confinement. He was given credit for three days of jail time already served. Turner must pay at least $100 per month in court costs and fines and agreed to forfeit all seized evidence.

Robert M. Seal, 28, was charged with failure to report to probation, to submit to random drug screenings, to complete Anger Management classes, for nonpayment of court costs and supervision fees and for picking up new charges of violation of the Sexual Offender Registry, vandalism and public intoxication while on probation. Seal was sentenced to serve the remainder of his three year sentence on supervised probation and 20 days confinement. He was given credit for eight days of jail time already served.

Junior Masingo, 45, charged with failure to report to probation and for nonpayment of court costs, fines and supervision fees while on probation, was sentenced to remain on 11 months, 29 days supervised probation with 20 days confinement. Masingo was given credit for jail time served from Dec. 1 to the date of his hearing.

Shelby L. Young, 24, charged with failure of a first drug screening for ‘Benzos,’ methamphetamine and amphetamines and for nonpayment of court costs and fines while on probation, was sentenced to ten days confinement and ordered to remain on six months supervised probation. Young was granted permission to serve her jail time on five consecutive weekends.

Cherri “Velvet” Whitaker, 54, charged with failing a drug screening for THC while on probation, was sentenced to an additional six months supervised probation and ordered to complete an alcohol and drug assessment within 30 days of her hearing. Whitaker is eligible for unsupervised probation once found fully compliant.
