Benefit for Trent coming up

A local woman is receiving help from the community in her battle against cancer.

Sheila Trent was diagnosed and started treatment in February 2017. She has stage four colon and liver cancer.

Trent’s family, friends and church are holding a benefit singing and silent auction, which will be hosted by Midway Baptist Church at Claiborne High School on April 21 from 5-8 p.m. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Trent, a Claiborne County native, has been a teacher and counselor for Claiborne County Schools and Heritage Christian Academy for over 20 years. She is married to Kenny Trent and they have two daughters, Caroline and Clarissa.

Singers scheduled to participate in the benefit include Steve Gulley and Friends, Jamey Brown, Clarissa Trent, Caroline Trent and Cody Long, Cave Springs Youth Group, Heritage Christian Academy Choir, Jaylen Pressnell, Master Peace, Chelsea Pressnell Estes, Living Waters, Howards Quarter Baptist Church, Wade Grooms, First Baptist Ladies and Youth Ensemble.

Tickets are $5 per person. Concessions will be available for purchase. Numerous items have been collected for the silent auction. All proceeds will go toward Trent’s medical bills and everyone is welcome to attend.
