Several candidates on ballot

Numerous candidates were certified by the Claiborne County Election Commission for the Aug. 2 election.

On the ballot for Claiborne County Mayor are Joe Brooks, Dennis Cook, Jack Daniels, “Big” Melvin Daniels, Frances Coffey Jones, Christy Mabry, Randall “O.T.” Smith and Clyde Vincent.

Claiborne County Sheriff candidates on the ballot are Bobby Brooks and David Ray.

Claiborne County Trustee candidates are Alice Alexander and David Painter.

Claiborne Circuit Court Clerk Jackie Rosenbalm is running unopposed, as is Register of Deeds Kimberly H. Reece.

The Claiborne County Clerk position has three candidates in the race: Misty Brown Davis, Charles Frost and Karen Hurst.

District 1 Commissioner candidates are Zachary Bunch, Brent Clark, Lance Petty, Whitt Shuford and Charlton C. Vass.

District 2 Commissioner candidates are Nathan G. Epperson, David E. Guy, Juanita T. Honeycutt, Bill Keck, Kimberly Walker Large and Gary Poore.

The State House of Representative Republican candidates are James Acuff, Jerry Sexton and Mike Williams. No Democrat certified.

On the ballot for Republican State Executive Committee Man is David A. Bishop; for Republican State Executive Committee Woman is Betty Fain; for Democrat State Executive Committee Man is William Ray Fannon Jr. and for Democrat State Executive Committee Woman is Lindsey Cadle.

In District 3, commissioner candidates include Otis “Mike” Campbell, Stacey F. Crawford, Nicholas Epperson and Tim Shrout.

District 4 Commissioner candidates are Dennis Estes, Zach Mullins, Anthony Rowe and Jake Williams.

Mitchell Cosby and Terry L. Daniels are on the ballot as District 5 commissioner candidates.

In District 6, commissioner candidates are Rosemary Barnett, Carolyn Johnson Brooks, Don Bryant, Billy Johnson, Steve Mason and Shelly Mills.

District 7 Commissioner candidates are Steve Brogan, Danny L. Longworth, Sherry McCreary, Shawn E. Peters and Aimee Upton.

David Mundy, Steven Murphy and Tammy Reagan are on the ballot as District 8 commissioner candidates.

James S. Hatmaker is running unopposed for commissioner in District 9.

The Claiborne County School Board has four seats up for grabs. In District 2, Micheal Jo Gray, Terry K. Keck and Russell Smith are on the ballot. In District 3, Pamela Poore Bays and Neta K. Munsey are on the ballot. Alice Brooks and Linda Fultz are running for the District 5 seat. Shannon England is running unopposed in District 6.

Charter commissioners are on the ballot as well. In District 1, Jill L. Brooks, Rodney Fugate and Scott Odom are running. Steve A. Cupp is running in District 2. In District 3, Roger Poore and Cecil Woody are on the ballot. District 4 candidate is Jerry Ware. Edward Anglin is on the ballot for District 5, Susan Lundeen Leo is on the ballot for District 7 and Ruby (Gayle) Huddleston is on the ballot for District 9. No one qualified to run in District 6 or District 8.

The deadline for candidates to withdraw from the ballot is April 12 at noon. The last day to register to vote in the Aug. 2 election is July 3.

Early voting will take place July 13-28.
