Lanee Arnwine fulfilled a dream May 6 in the Claiborne High School multi-purpose room when she signed to cheer for Lincoln Memorial University. Arnwine has been cheering since she was three and began her career on a competition team.

Arnwine decided to accept the offer due to being close to home and LMU having a degree in her chosen field. She will be seeking a degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences and wants to seek employment in a oncology lab, where she will help study the various types of cancer.

When asked about leaving CHS and what she thought about her time as a Bulldogs cheerleader Arnwine said this, “Cheering here was a great experience, and my most favorite part was watching the team grow under coach Chastity Deaton.”

Arnwine added, “What I will miss the most is Friday night lights.”

Lanee is the daughter of Richard and Diane Arnwine of New Tazewell, Tenn., and she was also a former Midway Red Devil cheerleader. She would like to thank several people including her mom and dad, Amy Munsey, coach Deaton, Kim Wilson and Cheryl Simmons.

Arnwine said, “I’m so nervous but excited to cheer at the next level. I really hoped but never thought I would get the chance to cheer at the college level. I look forward to learning and improving under my new coach, Jessica Kagias.”
