Stand in the Gap “Freedom Rally” will be held on Nov. 2 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Claiborne County Fairgrounds in New Tazewell. Free Parking. A resource/contact tent will be on site where local and regional substance abuse HELP agencies and pastoral care will be available for assistance and for current info. There will be a ‘Guided Prayer Walk’ inside the perimeter of the fairgrounds. Professional assistance and dedicated prevention/rehabilitative resources will be a primary focus of this rally. Several noted speakers will be on hand. Gospel and contemporary Christian entertainment provided by the Singing Gibsons and A C Hagy & Co. This is a free event. Bring lunch or snack as desired. Catholic Faith Inquirer Sessions are now ongoing. If you have questions, please come join us at the RCIA. Or, if you are Catholic and know someone who is interested in learning more about God or more about the Catholic Church, bring them to the sessions each Tuesday at St. Julian Catholic Church; 118 E. Free Drug Testing Kits
The Stand in the Gap coalition (SIGCO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, faith-based organization and is providing free saliva-based drug testing kits with instructions. They are called “give me a reason” (GMAR) kits. Anyone with questions about or needing to obtain GMAR kits or information regarding addiction treatment or anyone interested in getting involved with SIGCO or volunteering in the office, with the jail ministry or in any other area of SIGCO can call the Stand in the Gap office, at 423-300-1302.
