Child sex abuse, rape, aggravated assaults lead to indictments

The Claiborne County Grand Jury indicted several individuals on very serious charges with child sexual abuse, rape and aggravated assaults at the top of the alleged criminal activity.

Alexius Atkins and Doyle Atkins, Jr. were indicted under one true bill for a total of 20 counts between the couple. Alexius, 24, and Doyle, 29, were indicted on six counts of aggravated child abuse with serious bodily injury, six counts aggravated child neglect/failure to protect and eight counts child neglect allegedly occurring from Oct. 1, 2021 to March 21, 2023.

Daniel Jack Goins, 32, was indicted by the grand jury under two true bills. The first charged Goins with five counts of the continuous sexual abuse of a child allegedly occurring from Jan. 1, 2013 to March 31 of 2020. The second bill alleges one count of aggravated rape allegedly occurring from Feb. 26, 2010 to Sept. 30 of 2010.

The grand jury indicted Jason Fultz, 44, on one count of the continuous sexual abuse of a child allegedly occurring from May 1, 3014 to May 1 of 2022.

A true bill was returned on Austin Butcher, 23, on a total 13 counts. Butcher was charged with five counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count each of aggravated rape, rape, attempted rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, mitigated statutory rape and exhibition of harmful materials to minors. The counts allegedly occurred from Sept. 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022.

Anthony Eldridge, 60, was indicted on one count each of aggravated assault, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and resisting arrest allegedly occurring on July 16, 2022.

The grand jury indicted Daniel Killillay, 33, charged with a total of 20 counts – 19 of which are for the violation of an Order of Protection. Killillay was also indicted under this true bill for one count of aggravated domestic assault. All counts allegedly occurred during a series of events from June 14 through Aug. 22.

A true bill was returned on Joshua Foister, 31, indicted on one count of aggravated assault allegedly occurring on July 1.

The grand jury indicted Harold Von Royce Hatfield, 46, under two true bills. The first bill carries one count each of aggravated assault, evading arrest on foot and filing a false bomb threat report during an event allegedly occurring on July 21. The second bill contained one count of domestic assault, also allegedly occurring on July 21.

Thelma Beth Trent, 44, was indicted on one count of assault allegedly occurring on Jan.5.

A true bill was returned on Amanda Bolden, 32, on one count of assault allegedly occurring on July 12.

The grand jury indicted Rhonda Moyers, 51, on one count of the financial exploitation of an adult during an event allegedly occurring on Jan. 19.

Kenneth Jackson, 34, was indicted under two true bills for a total of two counts of actions by a home improvement services provider that constitute an offense during events allegedly occurring from March 1, 2022 through Nov. 31 of 2022.

An indictment does not indicate guilt. An indictment does indicate that the grand jury found enough evidence to warrant sending the case to trial.
